Conductive carbon fiber powder

Carbon fiber powder is a powdery material processed from short-cut carbon fibers through special techniques.

Conductive carbon fiber powder

Preparation Methods

  • Mechanical Crushing Method: Carbon fibers are cut or crushed by mechanical forces such as grinding and shearing. The process is simple, but it is easy to damage the fiber structure and affect the performance.
  • Oxidative Etching Method: Strong oxidants (such as concentrated nitric acid, potassium permanganate, etc.) are used to etch the surface of carbon fibers, making them fragmented. The particle size can be controlled, but attention should be paid to environmental protection treatment.
  • Chemical Vapor Deposition (CVD): Under specific conditions, nano-scale carbon fiber powder is generated by the deposition of gaseous carbon sources. It has high purity and excellent performance, but the cost is relatively high.
Core Properties

  • Mechanical Properties: High strength (tensile strength up to 2000MPa or more), high modulus (elastic modulus 150-300GPa), and low density (about 1.7-1.8g/cm³, only 1/4 of that of steel).
  • Electrical and Thermal Properties: Excellent electrical conductivity (resistivity 10⁻³-10⁻⁴Ω・cm), good thermal conductivity, and high temperature resistance (can withstand temperatures above 3000℃ in an inert atmosphere), but poor oxidation resistance (surface treatment is required).
  • Chemical Stability: Resistant to acids, alkalis, and most organic solvents, with strong corrosion resistance.

Application Fields

Composite Material Reinforcement

Polymer Materials: Added to plastics (such as nylon, polycarbonate) and rubber to improve the strength, rigidity, electrical conductivity, and wear resistance of the materials. They are used in aerospace components, automotive lightweight parts, electronic device housings, etc.

Cement/Concrete: Improve the crack resistance, impermeability, and electrical conductivity of concrete, and can be used to prepare conductive concrete and intelligent building materials.

Functional Coatings and Inks

Used to prepare conductive coatings (such as electromagnetic shielding materials, antistatic coatings) and wear-resistant coatings, or added to inks for printed circuits, sensors, etc.

Energy Field

As an additive for lithium-ion battery anode materials, it improves the electrical conductivity and cycle stability of electrodes.

Used in supercapacitors to enhance energy storage performance.
