Description
The MAX3485 is a low-power half-duplex transceiver compliant with RS-485 and RS-422 standards. This integrated circuit incorporates a driver and a receiver, with the driver operating at unrestricted slew rates to achieve data rates up to 10Mbps. When the driver is disabled and in either no-load or full-load conditions, these transceivers consume only 120μA to 500μA of supply current. All devices operate from a single 3.3V supply. The driver features short-circuit current limiting and overpower protection via a thermal shutdown circuit (which places the driver output into a high-impedance state). The receiver input features a fail-safe characteristic, ensuring the output remains at logic high when the input is open-circuited. The device offers ±8kV human body model (HBM) ESD immunity and passes the IEC 61000-4-2 ±15kV air discharge test.
